We travel a lot and visit Sacred Shrines and Temples.

Here is our latest journey to the Heart of Guan Yin.

DRAGON LIGHT TEMPLE – Altair – Teacher

I had an astonishing dream. I dreamt I was at the Blue Dragon Mountain temple. I sat in front of Amitabha Buddha. I entered the white star in the third eye in the middle of Guan Yin’s Blue Pearl. I DID NOT remember this dream. Then in my meditation of Saturday morning when I started to meditate I immediately “dropped back” into the dream and went through the whole experience again, in the physical, aware I was dreaming the dream. It was magical.

Saturday June 25

Today we were guided to the Dragon Light Temple.

I say guided because every step of our way seems borne by the inner light of Guan Yin. We are her children, Longnu and Shan-ts’ai. We went back to Blue Dragon Mountain and were invited in to the temple. My daughter danced in the energies which were very uplifting and the monk and his wife served us tea and told us stories and legends from 1400 years ago from the temple. The monk told us about the ‘hard to find’ Dragon Light Temple which indeed was hidden in a forest on a mountain about 1 km away. We went there and found it with some difficulty.

The Dragon Light Temple is dedicated to Guan Yin.

It is so called because of a famous legend.

As a reward for Guan Yin saving the Dragon King’s son, the Dragon King sent his granddaughter, a girl called Longnü (“dragon girl”), to present Guan Yin with the Pearl of Light. The Pearl of Light was a precious jewel owned by the Dragon King that constantly shone with Dragon Light, the Light of Source. Longnü, overwhelmed by the presence of Guan Yin, asked to be her disciple so that she might study the dharma. Guan Yin accepted her offer with just one request: that Longnü be the new owner of the Pearl of Light.

The Dragon Light Temple is one of the Temple’s dedicated to Guan Yin’s Source energy.

A beautiful thing happened at both temples.

When I walked up the hill to the Blue Dragon Mountain a beautiful golden dragonfly flew straight to me and so I called to it and it alighted on my hand and sat on it. Amitabha Buddha. There was only one.

When I went to the Dragon Light Temple two gorgeous deep blue black dragonflies flew to me. Guan Yin and Saraswati. There were only two.

The Mother Mantra of the Temple is the Heart Sutra.

ག༌ཏེ༌ག༌ཏེ༌པཱ༌ར༌ག༌ཏེ༌པཱ༌ར༌སཾ༌ག༌ཏེ༌བོ༌དྷི༌སྭཱ༌ཧཱ།

Gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi swāhā

Go beyond your self, go beyond what you know, go beyond the breath, empty yourself, bathe yourself in the Buddha, your True Self.

When we recite Her mantras, Guan Yin blesses us into magnificence, blesses the precious Blue Pearl inside each one of us, our true Inner Nature, our Enlightenment, into Being.

The Temple’s esoteric practices are that by chanting mantras (Guan Yin’s mantras – Om Mani Padme Hum AND Gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi swāhā), maintaining mudras (which open portals to the Buddha and Amitabha’s Pure Land), or performing certain meditations (such as the thirteen steps of Amitabha’s Meditation (described below)), we are able to see into the wisdom of our sense experiences as the way we learn the teachings of Buddha, have faith that we are inherently an enlightened being, and we can attain enlightenment or the Light Body within this physical body, awakening the Blue Pearl.

The practice found in Amitabha’s Pure Land is meditative contemplation and visualization of Amitābha Buddha, his attendant bodhisattvas, Guan Yin and Saraswati, and the Pure Land. The basis of this is found in the Amitāyurdhyāna Sūtra (“Amitābha Meditation Sūtra”), in which the Buddha describes to Queen Vaidehi the practices of thirteen progressive visualization methods, corresponding to the attainment of various levels of rebirth in the Pure Land. The first of these steps is contemplation of a setting sun, until the visualization is clear whether the eyes are open or closed. Each progressive step adds complexity to the visualization of Sukhāvatī, with the final contemplation being an expansive visualization which includes the Amitābha Buddha and his attendant bodhisattvas, in total clarity, within and without, during which samadhi is attained.
